We’re excited to announce the Dancer’s Edge Company and Southern Dance Theatre will participate in the upcoming “A Love Affair” benefit hosted by The Dancer’s Alchemy. This year’s performance is in tribute of Joan Miller and proceeds will provide for her medical needs and care as she battles Alzheimer’s Disease and will be held February 27, 2016 at 7pm – Countess de Hoernle Theatre – Boca Raton. Many of Ms. Joan’s former students and their dance companies will perform and we will update you soon with the details!
Ms. Joan Miller was a founder of Southern Dance Theatre and if it were not for her support, our school would not exist.
We’re hoping to reach former students of the legendary Ms. Joan Miller to let them know of this upcoming performance which honors her. If you know any of these students, we’d appreciate if you can spread the word so we can reach as many people who were both directly and indirectly influenced by this amazing woman worldwide.
Students will be measured by our staff for recital costumes this week during their classes (Nov. 2nd -7th). Please be sure you are in class or let our office know so we can make other arrangements.
Southern dance Theatre is proud to announce that our student and Special Arts Ensemble member, Zachary Gottsagen, has been on tour promoting his new film “Becoming Bulletproof”. He has been attending opening premiers in the following cities. Los Angeles, Washington, DC. New York City, Boston, Portland, Seattle and Cleveland.
Zac has had to miss a few of his Dance Movement classes for this adventure, but is a good student and will have no problem rejoining his class when he returns from filming for HBO in North Carolina. This new film was written for him and he will have the lead role! We don’t have a name for the new film, but we are happy to support him in his acting career. Way to go Zac!
If you’ve ever attended a LOUD Live event or one which the group participated in, including the 2015 Love Affair, you may have wondered how this production came to be. Now your questions can be answered as you get the story behind this talented group, its leader Hip Hop Instructor, Kenny Fowler, and the inspiration for bringing The Shop to life in this Palm Beach Post article and interview.
Congratulations to the following students who have been accepted into this season’s Dancer’s Edge Company! Thanks to all who auditioned and we look forward to a fantastic season ahead. Keep an eye out for performance announcements throughout the year and learn more about the Company here.
