Trial and Placement Class Opportunities

Take a free trial class before you enroll to see what our classes are all about. We also offer placement classes for new students who have experience in order to determine which level is best for them. Trial classes are available for all ages: 3 through adult.

Audition for the 2015 Dancer’s Edge Company!

The Dancer’s Edge Company offers students a unique opportunity to gain exceptional experience throughout the school year in: auditions, performances, and community services.  Learn more about this organization and how you and your dancer can be a part of it this season.

Upcoming Dancer’s Edge Company Auditions for the 2015-2016 Season will be held:

  • Friday, September 11, 2015 for Mini & Junior Companies
  • Saturday, September 12, 2015 for Elite, Apprentice, & Senior Companies

Mini & Junior Company Audition

This audition will determine which students are eligible to join our Dancer’s Edge Mini and Junior Companies for the 2015-2016 season.

Students in Light Blue, Raspberry, and Royal Ballet Levels are welcome to attend this audition.  This audition will include ballet, jazz, and tap.

  • Audition: 7:30pm-9:00pm

Dancer’s Edge Company Audition Eligibility

Students in Light Blue, Raspberry, and Royal Ballet Levels are welcome to attend this audition. This audition will include ballet, jazz, and tap.

  • Students in Light Blue & Raspberry Ballet Levels – Audition for Mini Company.
  • Students in Royal Ballet Level – Audition for Junior Company

Elite, Apprentice, & Senior Company Audition

This audition will determine which students are eligible to join our Dancer’s Edge Elite, Apprentice, and Senior Companies for the 2015-2016 season.

Students in Royal Ballet through Black Ballet Levels are welcome to attend this audition.  This audition includes: ballet, jazz, and modern.

Dancer’s Edge Company Audition Eligibility:

  • Students in Peri & Hunter 1st & 2nd Years Ballet Levels – Audition for Elite Companies.
  • Students in Peri 2nd Year & Hunter-Purple Ballet Levels – Audition for Apprentice Company.
  • Students in Ballet Purple/ Black High School, 8th Graders if in full Black Ballet level – Audition for Senior Company.

Saturday, September 12, 2015:

  • Sign In: 12:45pm-1:55pm
  • Audition: 2:00pm-4:00pm

Important Information for Both Auditions

Pick up your information packet and registration form from our office or download and print them from the links below. You will need to have your registration form completed at audition sign-in. Please come prepared.

Audition Attire:

  • Females: Black Leotard, Pink Ballet Tights, Ballet Shoes, Jazz Shoes, Hair Secured in Bun with Pins and Gel, Light Makeup.
  • Males: White Fitted T-Shirt, Black Tights, Ballet Shoes, Jazz Shoes.

FDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award

The Florida Dance Education Organization is pleased to announce this year’s merit award winner.

Tryanni Chiaravalloti from Bak Middle School of the Arts, has been chosen as NJHSDA (National Junior Honor Society for Dance Arts) 1st Place Winner the 2015 NDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award for Florida.

This year’s adjudication committee was JinLee Hanley, Florida Atlantic University and FDEO board member, Anjali Austin, Florida State University, and Michael Lomeka, Jacksonville University. These highly qualified adjudicators from Florida university dance programs bring a broad experience in concert and commercial dance. FDEO and the NHSDA committee appreciate their participation in this process this year.

All of the applicants were adjudicated in three categories:
Artistic Merit: The candidate demonstrates technical and artistic excellence in dance as evidenced by performing original choreography and a choreography essay.
Leadership: The candidate demonstrates outstanding leadership in and outside the field of dance at the school, community, state, and/or national level as evidenced by a strong resume, recommendation letter and leadership essay.
Academic Achievement: The candidate demonstrates academic excellence with a high cumulative grade point average and two essays detailing future plans and the impact of dance.

We appreciate the efforts of all the applicants and their sponsors and hope it was a rewarding experience and one of growth for all of them. Congratulations to those who placed in this year’s merit award.

Many of our recital pieces require a slicked back bun to be worn for stage.  We know that creating a “slicked back bun” hair style may seem challenging if you have never tried this before! We feel your pain so we created a tutorial!
