Jody Headshot

Jody Rubin Sorrels
Pre-Combo, Jazz/ Tap Basic

Jody began dancing at age two as her mom thought it would be a great way to get her out of her shell.  Little did she know the love of dance would become an important part of her life. Growing up just outside of Boston, she took ballet, tap, and jazz at local studios.

Jody graduated high school early and took dance classes in downtown Boston with her mentor, Judith Sostek, to prepare for college at SUNY Purchase where she majored in dance.

After college, Jody returned back to Boston and became a company member of The Jeannette Neil Dancers and performed with many local artists and choreographers.

Returning to New York, Jody got the best of the best training, mentoring with Joe Lantieri.  She lived the life of a dancer, teaching at STEPS on Broadway, and taking fun and interesting dance jobs!

After getting married, Jody moved to Florida where she worked for many local studios and ran and organized after school dance programs.

In 2001 she opened her own studio, which was her passion and life’s dream.  The studio had 19 successful years.

Jody feels beyond fortunate to teach Pre Combo and Jazz Tap Basics classes at Southern Dance Theatre.

Her goal is to let every student know just how special they are and how they can reach their full potential!
