Summer Intensive 2013

Summer is the perfect time for a dedicated student to further refine his or her abilities. When academic classes are in the distant future, weeks away, and when daylight hours are extended.  Each Summer Southern Dance Theatre provides a progressive, comprehensive curriculum designed to take dancers to the next level, no matter their goals.  We invite intermediate and advanced dancers ages 10-18 to audition for our Summer Intensive Program to take advantage of these summer weeks.

Curriculum includes: ballet, pointe, variations, modern, contemporary, leaps and turns, jazz, choreography, and more!

Who can benefit: Seniors who will be auditioning for performing arts companies, Middle and High School students who intend to audition for Bak or Dreyfoos Schools of the Arts, and those seeking other performance opportunities, such as through The Dancer’s Edge Company.

Students will get the experience of the audition process and the opportunity to work with well-established and experienced instructors as well as like-minded, talented students throughout the summer.

To join this outstanding summer dance program, students must audition. Please contact us to sign up for the audition or register in person.

Audition: Saturday, April 12th 4:00-5:30pm
Location: Southern Dance Theatre

Students will be notified with their audition results the following week.

Register Now: BAK & DSOA Mock Audition

Happy New Year! For many 5th and 8th grade dancers, new years resolutions may mean giving it their all as they get ready for upcoming BAK and Dreyfoos Schools of the Arts Dance Auditions. As with any audition, preparation is key.

Southern Dance Theatre has offered support and guidance to these 5th and 8th grade students for years and 2014 is no exception. We are offering a mock audition class so that students can gain the experience and insight necessary to enter their audition with confidence.  If you are wondering how to best prepare for your audition, this class is for you.

In 2013, 100% of our students who auditioned for BAK MIddle School of the Arts were accepted for the current year, and we have had great success preparing students for both schools.

Our mock audition includes a ballet group class, modern group class, time for dancers to present their solos, and feedback to the dancers on their performance. To ensure a truly fair assessment, dancers are critiqued by instructors outside of the Southern Dance Theatre faculty.

The mock audition will be held Sunday, January 12th from 1 – 4pm and is $25 cash or check to “Southern Dance Theatre”.

Register now at our front desk. Students must reserve a space in order to attend. This opportunity is limited to current Southern Dance Theatre students.

We wish the very best of luck to all dancers who audition!

To Those Preparing for Dance Auditions for Bak or Dreyfoos Schools of the Arts

BAK and DSOA Audition PreparationParents of current Southern Dance Theatre students who are interested in the Dance Audition preparation process for BAK and Dreyfoos Schools of the Arts Dance Auditions should join us for a Q & A Meeting: October 7th at 7:30pm at Southern Dance Theatre. We will discuss the “ins and outs of auditioning”

Meeting facilitated by: Julie Bravata & Penni Greenly

Our belief is that well thought out preparation is crucial in achieving these goals.
