In celebration of 30 years dedicated to artistic excellence, for this year’s recital A 30 Year Journey, Southern Dance Theatre 1983 ~ 2013, Penni Greenly is inviting back her former dancers to perform a special Alumni piece. Any dancer who danced at Southern Dance Theatre from 1983 to present is invited, including former Atlantic High School Eagle-ettes who danced under Penni’s direction.
Rehearsals will be held at Southern Dance Theatre every Saturday afternoon leading up to recital, with additional Tech and Dress Rehearsals the week of the performance.
Ryan Redmond (2008) and Roger Dunson (1998) are choreographing and Ryan will be teaching along with Marybeth Orman (2006).

Alumni dancers will not be required to pay for studio time. We only ask that you commit to the rehearsal and performance schedule AND DANCE YOUR HEARTS OUT!

Summer is the perfect time for a dedicated student to further refine his or her abilities. When academic classes are in the distant future, weeks away, and when daylight hours are extended. Each Summer Southern Dance Theatre provides a progressive, comprehensive curriculum designed to take dancers to the next level, no matter their goals. We invite intermediate and advanced dancers ages 10-18 to audition for our Summer Intensive Program to take advantage of these summer weeks.
Curriculum includes: ballet, pointe, variations, modern, contemporary, leaps and turns, jazz, choreography, and more!
Who can benefit: Seniors who will be auditioning for performing arts companies, Middle and High School students who intend to audition for Bak or Dreyfoos Schools of the Arts, and those seeking other performance opportunities, such as through The Dancer’s Edge Company.
Students will get the experience of the audition process and the opportunity to work with well-established and experienced instructors as well as like-minded, talented students throughout the summer.

Congratulations go out to Southern Dance Theatre Student and Dancer’s Edge Apprentice Company Member, Anna Gonzalez, who won 2nd overall this weekend at Youth America Grand Prix in Atlanta with her contemporary solo choreographed and coached by her mother Ms. Elizabeth Gonzalez! Anna also placed in the top 12 for her solo variation Black Swan coached by Ms. Julie Bravata! She competed against 160 other soloists. We are waiting to see if Anna will be asked to compete in NYC in April. We are very proud of Anna, Ms. Julie, and Ms. Liz on a great accomplishment!
Congratulations to our Dancer’s Edge Mini and Junior Companies who competed this weekend at Hall of Fame Dance Challenge in Boca Raton! They were awarded 1 Platinum and 5 High Gold medals! Our Minis won Overall Small Group High Score! The companies also won 1st Places and a Showmanship Award! Bravo and Brava to all of these dancers and their teachers for a job well done!
