Southern Dance Theatre Student, Kayla Marzullo, has been nominated Best Supporting Actress in a Short Film by Florida Motion Picture & Television Association for her role in “The Magic Ribbon,” a short film by filmmakers Kristen Genszler and Jacqueline Reyno, an entry in Sprite’s online “Refreshing Films” contest in which she starred with choreographer Mia Michaels.
For the past 38 years FMPTA has been a vital part of the motion picture and television industry in Florida. The purpose of FMPTA is to promote and facilitate increased motion picture, television, audio recording and digital media production within Florida, while striving to educate the public and guide the legislators as to the economic significance of the production industry.
Kayla will attend the Crystal Reel Awards November 5th in Orlando. Best of luck, Kayla!
The Delray Beach Playhouse Children’s Theatre Presents Maurice Sendak’s “Really Rosie”. Several Southern Dance Theatre students will be performing! With music by Carole King, “Really Rosie”, the musical, follows a typical summer day in the life of the Nutshell Kids, a group of neighborhood friends, including Rosie, Kathy, Pierre, Alligator, Johnny, and Chicken Soup. Rosie, the self-proclaimed sassiest kid on her block, imagines herself as a famous and talented star, and decides to produce an imaginary movie musical about her life and, in particular, the demise of her brother named Chicken Soup.
