Kerri Fouchet is a native Floridian and began her dancing career at Southern Dance Theatre at the age of 4. She was trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, pointe, modern, lyrical and leaps and turns. Kerri was a member of a pre professional amateur tap company called ‘Soul to Sole’ starting at the age 10.  She was a member of the Dancer’s Edge Company for seven years and was captain for two of them. While training at Southern Dance Theatre she had the privilege of dancing at Disney, Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas, Universal Studios, Halftime Shows and a plethora of community events. She competed for various titles, won multiple scholarships at conventions and volunteered at dance summer camps. After 14 years of rigorous training at Southern Dance Theatre, she made it on to the college dance team of her dreams.

Kerri received her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in May 2014. While at FSU, Kerri was on the competitive dance team, Seminole Dance Force, for four years where she served as captain for two years. Her team was self run and competed nationally at National Dance Alliance. The dance team has been ranked in the top 10 in the nation and #1 in Florida competing in both jazz and hip hop. After two years on the team, she brought them from a student organization to a university sponsored sports club team. As a member of her dance team, Kerri also choreographed, costume designed, and was treasurer.

Once graduating from college Kerri returned home to begin her teaching career. She began teaching dance at SDT in 2014 while furthering her education and earning a masters degree in Educational Leadership in 2017.

In addition to her teaching career at Southern Dance Theatre, Kerri is a high school math teacher with aspirations to be in leadership. Alongside teaching, Kerri is the Department Head, lead math teacher for her team and for the freshmen class. Kerri is also the advisor of her school’s yearbook which students create and produce. Her leadership skills and creativity flourish in her extracurriculars in her profession.

Continuing a small professional dance career while working at SDT, Kerri was a member of the ‘VolleyGirls’ for 6 years. This is a professional dance ambassador program associated with the Delray Beach Open. She led(captain), choreographed and managed the team of approximately 20 dancers ages ranging from 4-30.

In 2020 Kerri became a director for the Dancer’s Edge Company and now in 2022, Kerri is now the Co-Owner of Southern Dance Theatre. As they say, life truly comes full circle. Ms. Fouchet is honored and humbled by the opportunities that are given to her. Hard work and determination can lead to dreams coming true. It is her dream that everyone can experience the magic and joy that Southern Dance Theatre has to offer. Penni Greenly is not only a former boss, but a former teacher, mother figure and more importantly MENTOR to Ms. Fouchet. The passion of dance and arts she has brought to the community is what Kerri promises to instill in young dancers.
